Jennifer
Crawford, JD, LCSW-C
|
Jennifer
Crawford is the Director of the Outpatient
Mental Health Center (OMHC), at Family
Services. Ms. Crawford is a licensed
clinical social worker. She received
a law degree from Antioch School of
Law and a Masters Degree in Social Work
from Catholic University. Ms. Crawford
has extensive experience working with
children and families. She worked as
the clinical director at a school for
emotionally disturbed children in Baltimore
and Prince George's County and then
served for six years as the director
of Community Kids, a federally funded
wrap-around project for children with
serious behavior problems and their
families. Ms. Crawford became the director
of OMHC in 2006. |
Kathleen Ackerman,
MD |
Dr.
Ackerman is from Buffalo and attended
SUNY at Buffalo for both undergraduate
and medical school. She originally trained
as a pediatrician and practiced for
13 years. She then went back into training
and completed her residency in adult
psychiatry at George Washington Hospital
and a child psychiatry fellowship at
the University of Maryland. She worked
in special education at RICA Southern
Maryland for 9 years. She is now also
in private practice in Clinton, Maryland
seeing both children and adults. |

Brown, MD |
Doriska
Brown is licensed as a physician in
Maryland and is Board Certified in Psychiatry.
Dr. Brown is the Medical Director for
the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic
at Family Services. She has worked internationally
with clients from Asia, including Vietnamese,
Laotian, and Cambodian adults. She has
also worked extensievely with clients
from Eastern Europe, West Africa, and
the Caribbean. Dr. Brown is experienced
treating a range of disorders from mild
depression or anxiety to schizophrenia.
Her practice focuses on adult patients.

Dunsmore, LCSW-C |
Marlene
Dunsmore has special training and experience
in providing clinical psychotherapy
to adults and children who have experienced
mental/physical and sexual trauma; adults
who suffer from substance abuse, HIV/AIDS,
domestic violence, incarceration, or
parenting issues; and the severely and
persistently mentally ill (SPMI) population.
She currently runs support groups for
the SPMI population, Trauma Recovery
and Empowerment Group (TREM) for adult
women and a Dissociative Identity Disorder
Group (DID) for women. She practices
therapy by utilizing the following modalities:
Psychodynamic, CBT, TREM, EMDR, EFT,
Social Skills Building and 12 Step/Relapse
Prevention theories.

Emerson, LGSW |
Kim
Emerson received her Master of Social
Work from the University of Pennsylvania.
Kim is a licensed graduate social worker
(LGSW) in the state of Maryland. She
works with young adults and adults with
anxiety, mood and psychotic disorders.
Kim is being trained in treating individuals
who have experienced mental, physical
and sexual trauma using CBT, psychodynamic
and EMDR. She also works closely with
Montgomery Station (FSI's Psychiatric
Rehabilitation Program), serving as
the liasion between the program and
the Outpatient Mental Health Center.
Kim sits on the Gaithersburg Hoarding
Task Force. |

Foord Smith, LGSW |
Shawna
Foord Smith received her Master of Social
Work from the University of Maryland.
She specializes in working with children
and adolescents. She has experience
in case management and family therapy. |

Herbers, LCSW-C |
Mary
Herbers has worked for Family Services
Outpatient Mental Health Clinic for
four years as a clinical social worker.
Mary conducts four therapy groups using
Transactional Analysis, Gestalt Therapy,
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other
modalities. She also provides individual
therapy. She has experience working
with homebound elderly and disabled,
families, couples and addiction programs
providing case management and therapy. |

Claudia
Iglesias is a graduate of the University
of Maryland School of Social Work. She
provides individual and family therapy
for adults and children. Claudia is
bilingual and speaks Spanish.

Kaelber received his medical degree
from Case Western Reserve University
and completed his psychiatric residency
at Saint Elizabeths Hospital in Washington,
DC. Dr. Kaelber is Board Certified as
a psychiatrist. He provides psychiatric
services for adult clients.

Raynette
Lyles received a Master of Science in
Pastoral Counseling from Loyola College
in Baltimore. She has spent many years
in the federal sector before pursuing
her counseling degree. Raynette works
with adults, adolescents and children. |

Parada, MD |
Hector
Parada is from Chile and received his
medical degree from the University of
Chile and his residency at The George
Washington University. He furthered
his studies in child and adolescent
psychiatry at Massachusetts General
Hospital and Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Parada sees children and young adults.
He is bilingual and speaks Spanish.

Ressler received a Master of Social
Work from the New York University Silver
School of School Social Work. She completed
a specialization in substance abuse
counseling and co-occurring disorders.
Liz provides individual, group and family
therapy for adults. |

Showers, LGSW |
Katie
Showers recieved her Masters in Social
Work with specialization in child mental
health from the University of Maryland,
Baltimore. Katie is a licensed Graduate
Social Worker in the state of Maryland.
She currently works offsite with children
Kindergarten through fifth grade who
are enrolled in the Linkages to Learning
Program at Maryvale Elementary School.
She is trained in trauma focused CBT
with children. |

Tom
Sumser is a Licensed Certified Social
Worker-Clinical who received his Masters
Degree in Social Work from the University
of Michigan. He has also received extensive
post-graduate training in Structural
Family Therapy. Tom has over 30 years
experience in working with children,
adolescents, adults and families in
a variety of clinical settings including
outpatient mental health centers, psychiatric
hospitals, family services agencies
and private practice. |

Robert
Tsai received a Master of Science in
Clinical Community Counseling from Johns
Hopkins University. Robert provides
individual therapy for adults and children,
as well as family therapy. Robert is
bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese. |

Urgenson is licensed as a Clinical Professional
Counselor. Before she became a counselor,she
held a Masters degree in Early Childhood

She began working as a clinical therapist
at Family Services in 2004. Kate works
with adults, providing individual, couples'
and family therapy. Kate has a special
interest in relationship issues, phase-of-life
